Author Spotlight on Ani Right, author of Happiness for Beginners: The Power of Positive Thinking
IWIC: Tell us about you.
Ani: I am a European freelance journalist, currently living in Beijing, China. I am a travel-addict – having visited 118 countries in the world, I am still full of plans for the future. I love meeting new people, discovering cultures, reading books and watching movies. I am a foodie as well, and adore finding much more information about the country in a food market or in a cooking class. I am always getting confused when I am asked about my favorite country, because my favorites keep changing and I find lots of attractions in any country in the world.
IWIC: What inspires you to write?
Ani: I believe in sharing, so my books are my contribution to a shared knowledge. I myself have learned from books a lot, so I have decided that I can give back a little bit as well. My books come from my experience or when I see the niche that still needs to be covered, as it happened with A Crash-Course in Chinese Cuisine and Tea. Moreover – I like writing. It is my profession anyway.
IWIC: Is there a message in your books?
Ani: I am a strong believer in the power of positive thinking, so I hope that people can feel a lot of positivity in my books. I try to help people to avoid the mistakes which I have made, and to get informed and to live a wonderful and interesting life. The majority of my books are related to travel, so frequent travelers or complete beginners might find them handy. For instance, take Practical Tips for Easy Air Travel, which provides lots of information on air travel. Or Let’s Have a Massage!: Soul and Body Healing – a comprehensive guide on massage techniques. Or my book, A Traveller’s Guide in Finding the Best Accommodation, which provides a lot of information on how to make a right choice as to where to stay. My books tend to be practical, so they are short and concise. I write about subjects that interest me and which I am passionate about. I hope they are interesting and informative to my readers as well.
IWIC: Tell us about your book.
Ani: The book Happiness for Beginners: the Power of Positive Thinking is the result of my own practices, mistakes and findings through life. I am a strong believer in the power of positivity, and I know that we can change our lives by changing perceptions and attitudes about things and about others. Some people take too long to come to this conclusion, so I wanted to share some clear simple techniques that can completely change our tomorrows.
